Sleep Deprivation- Is he Drunk or Tired?
Many of my friends know how much I like to say “Sleep deprivation has effects similar to alcohol consumption”. They struggle through the day after writing a horrendous paper, and then I come up with that small snide statement.
Well, now its my turn. I was writing a paper last night and got caught up with my own editing process. With less than 3 hours of sleep, I feel that researchers may be on to something there. Most comparisons of blood alcohol levels and sleep deprivation have to do with the effect they have on driving ability.
CNN has more to say on this topic. As for me? I think I’ll take a nap.

hum……I’ve heard the same thing, but I would say there are more differences than similarites. Like, I’ve never heard of someone waking up next to someone they don’t know after being too sleep deprived.

Ah- the more you stay up, the less drunk you are, the LESS you exhibit those symptoms. If you are tired and the more you stay up, the more tired you become, the MORE you exhibit those symptoms.
Go to sleep or drink less. That may be the question.
